Start of the treatment
The initial problem is developing crowding in both dental arches, particularly in the lower arch. The space between the primary canines is insufficient for the permanent incisors, and it is suspected that normal transverse growth will not be sufficient to correct the situation.
The aim of the treatment is to stimulate transverse growth of the jaws by gradually increasing the size of the appliance, while simultaneously aligning the erupting teeth. Starting with My LM-Activator™ Low Short 40.
After 3 months
The appliance is changed to a bigger size My LM-Activator™ Low Short 45.
After 5 months
The appliance is changed to a bigger size (My LM-Activator™ Low Short 50) , which is the third size used in the treatment.
After 14 months
The appliance is again changed to a bigger size (My LM-Activator™ Low Short 55), in total 4 sizes are used during treatment. During 5–14 months the primary lateral incisors were replaced by permanent lateral incisors.
After 18 months
After 18 months of treatment, the occlusion is sagitally Class I with normal overjet and overbite. All permanent incisors have been able to erupt. The first transitional phase of dentition is nearing completion.
Treatment will continue with a gradual reduction in appliance use (here My LM-Activator™ Low Short 55) and will be paused once the first transitional phase is fully completed. The need for further treatment will be reassessed at the beginning of the second transitional phase.
